28th Day of Caring Therapeutic Playground Resurfacing

At The Arc Gateway's Pearl Nelson Center we provide pediatric developmental, physical, occupational and speech therapy services. We have a therapeutic playground on site that the therapists sometimes use to help children practice the therapy strategies in a typical child oriented setting…a playground. This helps the parents to see that therapy strategies can be incorporated easily into daily routines in the community in between the child’s therapy appointments. Our covered playground is in need of resurfacing to meet safety guidelines. We will have 60 cubic yards of engineered wood fiber delivered in the early morning hours prior to the start of Day of Caring. Volunteers will remove any weeds that may be growing in the current surface and level the area, then begin dispersing and spreading the engineered wood fibers around the equipment and covered playground area.
