Lights Camera Discover

Lights Camera Discover is a nonprofit organization founded in 2011 by Kema Charles to empower youth through digital arts, STEAM education, and workforce development opportunities. We provide hands-on programs in filmmaking, photography, animation, podcasting, music production, and digital media that help youth build confidence, leadership, teamwork, and real-world career skills. Our programs create safe, creative spaces where students can express themselves, discover their passions, and prepare for future educational and professional opportunities. Lights Camera Discover serves youth and families through after-school programs, summer camps, weekend workshops, mentorship opportunities, internships, and community partnerships. We are committed to ensuring that young people — especially those from underserved communities — have access to creative education, technology, mentorship, and positive support systems. Over the years, Lights Camera Discover has expanded programming into multiple states and has been recognized for its impact through community partnerships, youth leadership development, and innovative arts and workforce programming.

Our volunteer opportunities support programs in filmmaking, photography, animation, podcasting, digital media, and special events. Volunteers assist with mentoring youth, program setup, event support, check-in, creative projects, field trips, workshops, fundraising events, and community outreach. Through hands-on learning experiences, we help young people develop teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and technical skills while providing a safe and supportive environment where they can discover their talents and future career pathways. Lights Camera Discover serves youth and families through after-school programs, summer camps, weekend bootcamps, workforce development initiatives, and community events across multiple communities.
